The Dow Chemical Company Joins the Mandate’s Action Platform
The CEO Water Mandate Secretariat welcomes The Dow Chemical Company as the latest company to join the Water Security through Stewardship Action Platform!
The Action Platform is where all of the CEO Water Mandate’s key programmatic areas and working groups are housed. It is the core mechanism through which endorsing companies, UN entities, governments, NGOs, and other stakeholders work together to advance more sustainable water management and the SDGs.
Founded in 1897, Dow combines science and technology to create innovations that aid human progress. The company is headquartered in the United States of America and has a portfolio of specialty chemicals, advanced materials, agrosciences and plastics businesses. In 2017 the company had a revenue of 62,484 billion dollars.
Dow is committed to driving sustainable innovation with the intention of advancing the “well being of humanity by helping lead the transition to a sustainable planet and society, maximizing economic, environmental and societal value.” In Dow’s 2025 Sustainability Goals the company emphasizes the need to value nature and commits to reducing the freshwater intake intensity at key water stressed sites by 20 percent. The company’s vision is to combine science and water stewardship to strengthen the world’s water supply and help ensure access to clean water for billions.
Dow endorsed the Mandate in April 2011, joining a diverse, global community of over 140 companies that have made a commitment to advancing water stewardship.
