Continental Commits to the CEO Water Mandate
The CEO Water Mandate Secretariat welcomes Continental as its latest endorsing company! Via its endorsement of the Mandate in November 2020, Continental joins a diverse, global community of over 180 companies that have made a commitment to advancing water stewardship.
Continental is a technology company that develops technologies and services for sustainable and connected mobility of people and their goods. Founded in 1871, the company produces products for vehicles, machines, traffic, and transportation. Based out of Germany, Continental operates in 595 locations across 59 countries and employs more than 244,000 people. In 2019, the company generated sales of €44.5 billion.
Continental is committed to environmental protection, with a corporate strategy focused on climate protection and energy efficiency. The company aims to reduce water consumption while simultaneously increasing the recycling rate for operational waste. The company’s goal is to “develop products and solutions that consume less energy and conserve our natural resources – both during production and when our products are in use.” Continental’s corporate environmental target for water is to reduce water demand per year based on sales in high risk water stressed areas by 4%, and in medium and low risk areas by 2%. The company’s focus is to implement efficiency projects that avoid water consumption and promote reuse of water.
