Webinar: Innovative Diagnostic Tools to Inform Basin Investments
Tuesday, July 28, 2020
As companies look to understand how and where they can make investments to improve watershed health, there is an ever growing need to understand the implications of different potential interventions. Fortunately, there is a growing number of tools to help with these analyses. This session will provide an opportunity for companies to learn about several partnerships and tools that exist and to explore how such tools can help facilitate the identification of local collective action opportunities.
The tools that will be discussed are:
The BasinScoutĀ® Platform uses satellite data and machine learning to allow users to rapidly assess field-level agricultural management practices and their impact on water resources. The platform, co-created by The Freshwater Trust and Upstream Tech, develops feasible, cost-effective investment scenarios across large, complex geographical areas.
The Ecosystem Services Identification and Inventory Tool (ESII) allows non-ecologists to quickly and easily quantify key ecosystem services to help make land management decisions, while considering the social, economic and ecological consequences. The tool was developed by the Dow Chemical Company (Dow) with the assistance of The Nature Conservancy (TNC), and EcoMetrix Solutions Group (ESG) and available publicly free of charge.
