Xylem Joins CEO Water Mandate
The CEO Water Mandate Secretariat welcomes Xylem as its latest endorsing company! Xylem is joining over 140 companies from across the globe and representing multiple industry sectors that have committed to advancing water stewardship. Xylem has been a participant of the United Nations Global Compact since 2002. President and CEO Patrick Decker views his endorsement of the CEO Water Mandate as “another affirmation of our commitment to making Xylem a sustainability leader.”
Headquartered in the United States, with over 16,000 employees, Xylem is a leading water technology company committed to “solving water” by creating innovative and smart technology solutions to meet the world’s water, wastewater and energy needs. In a world of ever-growing challenges, Xylem delivers innovative water technology solutions throughout the cycle of water.
Xylem recognizes that solving the planet’s water challenges has never been more urgent. They have set a goal of reducing their water intensity by 25 percent by 2019 relative to 2014 levels. Thanks to improvements in water collection and reuse at their facilities, with a special focus on high-consumption sites and those in extreme water scarcity areas, they have already decreased water intensity by nearly 10 percent. Through their signature citizenship program, Xylem Watermark, the company brings clean water, sanitation and hygiene education to schools and communities in emerging markets, and responds with water solutions when disaster strikes around the globe.
