Webinar – Announcement of the Water Stewardship Acceleration (WaSA) Forum (World Water Week)
Water Stewardship is a powerful approach for multi-stakeholder cooperation and joint action with the aim of reducing water-related risks for ecosystems, communities, and economies. The session kicks-off with an overview of the stewardship approach, its potential and examples of current initiatives as well as the existing stewardship landscape including relevant actors, gaps, and challenges. Filling existing gaps (fragmentation, lack of coordination, insufficient action by the private sector) is the aim of the newly established Water Stewardship Accelerator (WaSA) Forum that seeks to facilitate exchange on best policy practices and increase the visibility of the water stewardship approach on the political agenda. The first part of the workshop will be completed with an introduction of the WaSA Forum’s format, structure, and goals. The presentation is followed by a panel discussion on the potential of the stewardship approach for mobilizing action with the private sector towards the achievement of global goals and economic transition.
