Global Companies,
United for Water Resilience

We bring global companies and their CEO’s together to drive bold, coordinated action against the planet’s water crisis.

Our Purpose

We bring global companies and their CEO’s together to drive bold, coordinated action against the planet’s water crisis.

  • Identify and accelerate investment in water-climate solutions
  • Build water security and resilience through collective action in high-stressed regions
  • Align on quantifiable, time-bound water commitments at both enterprise and basin levels

Our 2030 Ambition

We will achieve Positive Water Impact in over 100 water-stressed basins that support over 3 billion people

We will enable equitable and resilient water access, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) for over 300 million people

Our 2030 Roadmap

To achieve our 2030 ambition, the WRC will employ strategies related to 4 pathways:

Expand to 150+ companies to maximize impact

Mobilize 100% participation in 50 critical basins by 2027 and 100 by 2030

Advance water resilience and efficiency with AI, Digital, and Innovation

Invest $2B inWASH, reaching 100 million people by 2027 and 300 million by 2030

Our 2050 Pledge

Positive Water Impact: Invest in activities required to reduce or eliminate operational impacts for a site, address (or balance) the remaining operational footprint, participate in collective actions in the company’s priority water-stressed basin addressing critical risks, including availability, quality, and access to water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH).

Water-resilient value chains: Develop, implement, and enable strategies and actions to support the implementation of leading impact-based water resilience best practices across the global value chain operations in priority basins.

Global leadership: Raise the global ambition of water resilience through public and corporate outreach.

Our 100 Priority Basins

As part of our 2030 ambition, the WRC’s 100 priority basins target key watersheds around the world for collective action on water.

The WRC selected the basins in collaboration with our members and partners (see map caption) based on the levels of water stress and potential for positive impact.

Search the basin list and explore our interactive map to find which basins your company operates in and what water resilience projects already exist on the ground.

PWI (Positive Water Impact)

Positive Water Impact (PWI) is a dynamic framework that supports corporates on their water stewardship journey and that enables long-term water resilience in water-stressed basins where it matters most.

Pioneered by the CEO Water Mandate and WRC, delivering PWI contributes toward reducing water stress in its multiple dimensions: water availability (quantity), water quality, and water access. The goal is for a company to contribute to a healthy basin and to exceed its negative impacts in the same region. PWI positions water stewardship as an ongoing journey, not a destination.

PWI is quantifiable against the three dimensions of water stress, aligns with established methodologies (e.g., context and science-based water targets), and can be measured via both short-term outputs and long-term outcomes.
