Reporting and Transparency Requirements

CEO Water Mandate Reporting Requirements

Companies that endorse the CEO Water Mandate must complete all water-related questions of the UN Global Compact’s annual Communication on Progress questionnaire (Open 1 April 2024 – 31 July 2024). In 2024, endorsers are also expected to submit their corporate water targets and basins of interest through the Water Action Hub.

How do the 2024 requirements differ from previous reporting requirements?

Prior to 2024, companies were required to submit a qualitative report on their water progress across the 6 commitment areas. To align with the UN Global Compact’s revised Communication on Progress, the CEO Water Mandate has streamlined and standardized its reporting requirements as of 1 April 2024.

Companies are NOT required submit sustainability reports, CDP Water Security Questionnaires, or any other documents that previously fulfilled the CEO Water Mandate reporting requirements.

Instead, the CEO Water Mandate now expects companies to report on their corporate water targets and their interest / action across the 100 Priority Basins through the Water Action Hub.

How does my company benefit from disclosure through the Water Action Hub?

Reporting the priority basins where you have an interest in water action will allow the CEO Water Mandate to connect you with relevant local opportunities, basin diagnostics, and partners. Reporting the priority basins where you are already taking water action will showcase your geographically specific water achievements, and open doors to multiply your impact by bringing additional partners onboard.
