Overview<\/h3><\/span><\/div><\/div>[vc_column_text]Ensuring integrity makes water stewardship initiatives (WSIs) more impactful, sustainable, and cost-effective. Further, ensuring high levels of integrity reduces reputational risks that could be barriers to multi-stakeholder cooperation.<\/p>\n

This guide builds on the lessons learned from the pioneers of WSIs around the world. What is integrity in WSI'S?<\/h3><\/span><\/div><\/div>[vc_column_text]Understanding and properly managing integrity risks is essential to ensure the long-term effectiveness and impact of WSIs in addressing shared water challenges. <\/b><\/p>\n

WSIs with integrity ideally have:<\/p>\n

    \n
  1. Clear objectives and demonstrable outcomes that advance sustainable water management<\/li>\n
  2. Trustworthy, credible, and accountable participants<\/li>\n
  3. Inclusive, transparent, and responsive processes and governance that lead to informed and balanced decision making<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column]

    What integrity risks do WSI's face?<\/h3><\/span><\/div><\/div>[vc_column_text]Fieldwork undertaken for this project has identified the range of integrity risks facing WSIs through analysis of 18 historical, ongoing, and emerging WSIs and 50 interviews with diverse\u00a0stakeholders<\/span>\u00a0involved in them.[\/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image=”8438″ img_size=”full”][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column]

    The Water Stewardship Integrity Framework<\/h3><\/span><\/div><\/div>[vc_column_text]This project developed a framework by which organizations can implement and advance integrity in their WSIs.\u00a0The framework includes seven principles across the four phases of every WSI.<\/p>\n
