Both a Human and Business Problem<\/h2>\n

Water stress impacts lives around the world, with more than 25 per cent of the world\u2019s population currently living in water-stressed regions.<\/p>\n

As it stands today, one in nine people don\u2019t have access to drinking water.<\/p>\n

But water stress also impacts business. Every day, water stress results in increased costs, production interruptions, market instability and workforce hardship, among other profound challenges. In fact, the World Bank projects by 2050 some regions could see their GDP growth rates decline by as much as 6 per cent due to water-related losses.[\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]\n

An Industry-Driven Coalition<\/h2>\n

CEOs from seven major global companies \u2013 AB InBev; Diageo; The Dow Chemical Company; Ecolab; Gap, Inc.; Microsoft; and PVH Corp. \u2013 together with the UN Global Compact\u2019s CEO Water Mandate spearheaded the formation of the Water Resilience Coalition<\/em>, in partnership with many other NGOs. Their intent was to bring together CEOs of the world\u2019s most influential companies around building a water resilient future.[\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]\n

A Pledge to Act<\/h2>\n

In joining the Coalition, companies have pledged to make the needed investments in their own operations, as well as work together through collective action, to accomplish three overarching commitments by 2050. These commitments are aimed at addressing the underlying issues affecting the health of the world\u2019s shared freshwater resources and building resilience of the freshwater basins that serve our communities, industry and the environment on which we all depend.
