SUMMARY:Freshwater Challenge Private Sector Engagement
DESCRIPTION:Date: 28 August 2024 \nTime: 8:30AM-11:00AM CET \nLocation: 7A Posthuset\, Vasagatan 28\, 11120 Stockholm (Room #314) \nSession Summary:  \n\n\n\n\nThe Freshwater Challenge (FWC) is a country-led initiative that aims to support\, integrate and accelerate the restoration of 300\,000 km of degraded rivers and 350 million hectares of degraded wetlands by 2030\, as well as conserve intact freshwater ecosystems. 45 countries and the European Union have joined the Freshwater Challenge so far. The Challenge aims to substantiate\, elevate and accelerate targeted interventions for rivers and wetlands\, connecting these with national plans and strategies. It will increase the overall investment into the restoration and conservation of freshwater ecosystems and substantially increase the social and economic returns on those investments.  \nWhile country-led\, the private sector has an important role to play  to partner and help meet the ambitious aims of the challenge. Freshwater ecosystems are central to both climate adaptation and climate resilience\, and supporting government efforts will create greater efficiencies and leverage of current and future efforts. Building on the ACTD1 framework\, a private sector support program is being developed to support country efforts\, and foster public-private partnerships.  \nDuring the event we aim to:  \n\nShare information about the Freshwater Challenge and the corporate support programme \n\n\nHear from leading corporates and Freshwater Challenge country members – e.g. why they joined\, their progress to date\, potential areas of collaboration with the private sector \n\n\nCo-Shape the FWC Corporate Supporter Program and outlay the next steps towards the official launch and a potential commitment from your organization \n\n\nEngage in dialogues to begin to foster more public-private partnerships & communication between FWC member countries and private sector actors \n\nHow to sign-up:  \nPlease register for the event and secure your spot via the registration form

SUMMARY:NPWI: BRIDGING BOUNDARIES IN CORPORATE WATER STEWARDSHIP
DESCRIPTION:Date: 29 August 2024 \nTime: 14:00-15:30 CET \nLocation: In-Person (Stockholm Waterfront Congress Center\, A2\, Level 6) & Online \nSession Summary:  \n\n\n\n\nThis session introduces Net Positive Water Impact (NPWI) and discusses it from the perspective of bridging application scales and aligning with other corporate water stewardship approaches. This will be discussed from the views of the framework developers\, other thought leaders\, corporates and practitioners. \nSession Description:  \ntools and frameworks in the corporate water stewardship (CWS) space are rapidly evolving through the input from a vibrant community of corporates\, practitioners and thought leaders. This session has three parts: Firstly\, it showcases Net Positive Water Impact (NPWI)\, and how it can help build basin-wide water resilience in 100 priority basins. Historically\, many corporates have undertaken their CWS approaches independently or in siloes. NPWI moves beyond site-level impacts to the basin scale\, promoting collective action and partnerships at broader scales helping to bridge borders and drive catalytic impact. Getting CWS tools\, frameworks and ambitions to increasingly complement each other is an essential step to making CWS clear\, accessible and implementable. Secondly\, thought leaders of other CWS frameworks\, tools and standards will weigh in on the alignment and complementarity of NPWI with their respective CWS approaches. NPWI has been intentionally developed to align with several leading approaches to ensure that corporate partners integrate and maximize their stewardship efforts and meet multiple corporate objectives and SDGs. In the third part of this session\, the floor is given to corporates and practitioners actively piloting or implementing NPWI and other CWS approaches. We will hear about their experiences\, insights and progress. \nRegistration (Registration available on 8/5 for specific in-person & online sessions) \nHow you can join online: \n\nRegister for online access (FREE)\nYou will receive an email with a link to the digital platform\nGo to the programme and search for this session\nClick on the session card and press the “join meeting” button when the session is starting.\n\nThe join meeting button will be available 10 minutes prior to the meeting\, if you dont see the button\, re-open the session.
